Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting in Target Parking Lot: Police

A domestic dispute ended with a woman fatally shot and the suspect fled from police. He was arrested after crashing his pickup.

A domestic dispute in the parking lot of the Germantown Target store escalated into the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old woman and a police chase to nab the suspect.

The victim has been identified as Mariam Folashade Adebayo. The suspect in custody has been identified as her boyfriend, Donald Wayne Bricker Jr., 27, of Hagerstown.

Montgomery County Police received reports of gunfire just after 7:30 p.m. Monday in the parking lot in front of the Target at 20908 N. Frederick Road.

Officers found Adebayo suffering from a gunshot wound; shed died at a local hospital from her injuries.

Bricker reportedly fled from the parking lot before police arrived to the scene. When officers located his vehicle, Bricker reportedly refused to stop, and a chase began.

The suspect’s vehicle crashed in the 15800 block of Darnestown Road (Route 28) and he was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and he remains at the hospital. Police say they found a handgun at the crash scene.

Detectives believe the suspect and victim had planned to meet in the shopping center to talk.
