Since Thursday, August 15, 2013, I have watched about 12 hours of the Women’s Solheim Cup, the equivalent of the pressure-ridden men’s Ryder cup. I have played golf for 40 years mostly at Redgate and was overwhelmed with the talent of the 16 players on the two teams.
It was so enjoyable to watch the leading women from Europe and the U.S compete for the cup. They are so talented. In addition, an 18 year old played for the United States and a 17 year old played for Europe. Both should become household names in the future. All players on both teams were very talented and they stood up to the most intense pressure type of golf in the competition between countries. If any one of the 16 women on the two teams dropped into Rockville’s Redgate golf course, all of us on the 18 holes would stop what we were doing to go and see how women can play golf and we would be held in awe.

The Solheim Cup will be played again in 2015 in Europe. Don’t miss it.
