Chris Stewart founded the Arnold Thunder back in January of 2013 as a way to offer rising middle school boys in Arnold the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of youth basketball. They compete year-round in AAU leagues, such as the Potomac Valley AAU which has some of the premier youth basketball teams in the country, and AAU tournaments as well as playing versus private schools. Their opponents range from Annapolis and Baltimore to Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia. When asked what makes his team unique, he responded, "It is all about earning respect and being challenged, two life lessons that today's youth are sorely deficient in. When my team walks into the gym every person looks at us like we do not belong. That is until the game starts. When it is over, they know we can compete at a very high level and hold our own. It is such a blessing and a privilege to lead these boys every week. They always try hard, do their best, and have fun!"
