'Bachmann Boys' Shave Their Heads

The Severna Park family had their heads shaved at the St. Baldrick's fundraiser on Sunday in Annapolis.

A father and his two sons known as the "Bachmann Boys" of Severna Park are now bald and the St. Baldrick's Foundation has $2,800 more to help fight cancer. Dad Austin and sons Max and Gusto have their heads shaved at the Fado Irish Pub in Annapolis on Sunday.

"The boys were a little nervous, but not as much as I thought they'd be. I will try to convince them to do it again—they enjoyed themselves and there was an 11-year-old girl who is a cancer survivor who attended yesterday's event. That was heartwarming," wrote Austin Bachmann in an email to Patch on Monday.

The annual fundraiser drew hundreds of spectators and the Bachmanns had their own cheering section with the boys' grandmother and aunt who came from Indiana to watch, said Bachmann. Also, there were neighbors from Olde Severna Park there to offer encouragement.

"It was so heartening to have so many neighbors and friends from Severna Park donate, including all of the members of Max's Green Hornets U11 select soccer team, The Fury, along with some of Gus's teammates from the U8 Heat team as well," wrote mom Elaine Bachman in an email.
