Screening of "Race to Nowhere" at Oak Hill Elementary School

Oak Hill Elementary is hosting a film screening of Race To Nowhere in Severna Park on Thursday, October, 13th at 6:30pm. The screening will be held at Oak Hill Elementary at 34 Truck House Road, Severna Park, MD 21146.

Race To Nowhere addresses the academic, athletic and social pressures young people find themselves under today, and how these stressors can negatively impact their mental and physical health. The film points to the silent epidemic in our schools: cheating has become commonplace, students have become disengaged, stress-related illness, depression and burnout are rampant, and young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired. Following the 85 minute screening, there will be a panel discussion on the topics raised. Various experts are expected to sit on the panel, including Dr. Joyce Cooper-Kahn, Ph.D., a practicing, published psychologist, Mr. Nick Silvestri, AACPS school psychologist and Ms. Catherine L. Hebert, regional assistant Superintendent.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 online at www.racetonowhere.com or at the door for $15.
