SPCC fundraising gala to honor Stew Smith, a true patriot

The Severna Park Community Center (SPCC) annual fundraising gala will be held on April 8 at the Chartwell Country Club. This year’s gala will honor Stew Smith, founder of Heroes of Tomorrow.

Stew is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a former Navy SEAL Lieutenant, and author of several fitness and self-defense books. After almost eight years in the SEAL Teams and an instructor at the Naval Academy Physical Education Department, Stew resigned his commission to start his own fitness and freelance writing business. 15 years ago, Stew founded Heroes of Tomorrow to meet a community need: to provide free physical training for anyone preparing to enter professions that serve our country. These professions include, but are not limited to military, special ops, police & firefighting professions.

SPCC is the home base of Heroes of Tomorrow. Men and women from all over the country use their facilities to train at no charge. Before the rest of the world awakens, Stew Smith and his Heroes of Tomorrow is at SPCC getting future protectors and leaders fit, training them in the weight room, pools, gymnasium, and neighboring B&A trail. Together with SPCC, Heroes of Tomorrow has prepared tens of thousands of people with Stew’s donated time and SPCC’s space. Heroes of Tomorrow accepts no donations, but asks that they be directed towards SPCC. More information about Heroes of Tomorrow can be found at www.heroesoftomorrow.org.
