14 Climate Activists Arrested For Blocking Capital Beltway: Reports
Climate activists shut down all lanes of the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway near Silver Spring on Monday, according to news reports.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Maryland State Police arrested 14 climate activists for blocking the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway in the Silver Spring area on Monday afternoon, according to news reports.
State troopers responded around 12:30 p.m., to the Inner Loop at the Route 29/Colesville Road exit, where approximately 12 people were blocking all lanes of traffic, according to WTOP.
MSP told WTOP that it had arrested 14 people on charges of disturbing peace/hinder passage and failure to obey a reasonable/lawful order. All lanes of traffic reopened around 1:45 p.m.
