20-Year-Old Takoma Park Man Identified As Fatal Shooting Victim

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police identified 20-year-old Walter Woods of Takoma Park as the victim in Tuesday night's fatal shooting in Silver Spring, according to a release.

Officers responded around 9:02 p.m. to the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane for the report of a shooting. Police found Woods suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and provided life-saving measures until the arrival of fire and rescue personnel, according to the release. Woods was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy of Wood will be conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, D.C., in order to determine the cause and manner of death. No suspect is in police custody.
