$250K Damage Estimated in Silver Spring Fire

There were no injuries to the fire reported Sunday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A house fire Sunday in Silver Spring caused an estimated total of $250,000 damage to the home and its contents, authorities said.

A two-story single-family house at 1608 Timberline Road was reported on fire about 9 a.m. Sunday. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services units found heavy fire in the attached garage and heavy smoke coming from the roof when they arrived.

Firefighters say the blaze began in the home's garage, then spread to the first and second floors with water and smoke damage throughout the.

The family of four was not home at the time of the fire. They were displaced by the fire damage.

Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $100,000 to the contents.

Fire investigators say the cause as accidental.
