SILVER SPRING, MD — A college student has given herself a mission before returning to campus: boost business at her grandma's restaurant within 60 days.
Located in Silver Spring, La Posada Restaurant has been operating in Montgomery County for decades, serving customers tacos, pupusas, carne asada and quesadillas, among other goods.
While the business garnered a healthy amount of customers throughout the years, traffic began to slow over time — but it wasn't because of the quality of the food.
That's according to the restaurant owner's granddaughter, who announced her 60-day mission in a video that has since gone viral on social media.
"Not too long ago, the restaurant was packed. People would come from all over for her pupusas, tacos and homemade food," the granddaughter said. "Not because the food got worse, I promise you that’s definitely not the problem. I think people just forgot this place existed."
"My goal is simple: get grandma's restaurant busy again. She didn't ask me to make these videos. She doesn't even know what half of TikTok is, but, after everything she's done for our family, I really wanted to do something special for her," she said.
The video was posted on Saturday, and in the few days since the effort was announced, it's struck a chord with locals.
Shared hundreds of times, the video includes comments from Marylanders promising to either stop by or remark that the food was top-notch. And, yes, La Posada is showing FIFA World Cup matches for those interested in catching a game at a local restaurant.
Diners can either order from La Posada Restaurant online or dine in the eatery at 8545 Piney Branch Road.
