Large Tree Falls Onto Two Montgomery County Homes

First responders said one person managed to self-extricate from a home, while another needed assistance from firefighters.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Two homes in the Takoma Park area sustained serious damage Friday after a large tree came crashing down.

Pete Piringer, with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said the incident was reported around noon at the 7400 block of Birch Ave., between Philadelphia and Dogwood avenues.

Photos provided from the scene showed extensive roof damage.

Piringer said that both homes were declared unsafe to occupy.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

While one resident self-extricated, another required assistance from firefighters to get out of the home.
