Armed Carjacking Suspects Caught On Surveillance Video: MoCo Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police released surveillance video footage Thursday in connection with an attempted armed carjacking that occurred early last Friday morning in Silver Spring. Police are asking the public's help in identifying the two suspects in the video.

Investigators determined that around 4:20 a.m., a man left his residence in the 13600 block of Middlevale Lane when he heard a noise and saw someone near his family's car.

The man confronted the suspect, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the car, according to police. The suspect exited the car and tried to leave in a red SUV.

A second suspect appeared with a handgun, which he used to strike the victim. He then demanded the victim's keys and personal property. When an additional man emerged from the residence to help the victim, the suspects drove off in the red SUV toward Layhill Road.

The two suspects were spotted around 3:30 p.m. on the same day stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the 13900 block of Alderton Road. They were seen in the same area around 12:22 a.m. in a Black sedan, according to police.

The suspects were identified as two White or Hispanic men in their 20s. The first suspect stood approximately 5-foot-10 and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a black winter coat, camouflage green hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black ski mask and white sneakers, with red and black soles, according to police.

Police described the second victim as standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 160-170 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue winter coat, a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a black ski mask, white and blue sneakers. He was carrying a black handgun.
