Armed Robbery Suspect Wanted In Silver Spring, Police Say

Police are searching for a man who robbed a MetroPCS store while armed in Fairland.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating an armed robbery of a MetroPCS store in Fairland. Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

At about 4 p.m. July 15, officers responded to the MetroPCS store at 13868 Old Columbia Pike for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store and told an employee that he wanted to purchase a new phone. The employee went to the store’s stock room to get a phone for the suspect and when the employee returned to the store’s showroom, he found the suspect behind the counter, stealing money from the cash register, police said.

The suspect then threatened the employee. He stole cash from the register and stole the cell phone from the employee’s hands, police said. The suspect fled from the store on foot. The employee told detectives that he believed that the suspect may have had a handgun in his waistband.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or an indictment for this crime.
