Arson Investigation Underway At Silver Spring Catholic School

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County fire officials say they are investigating several small fires at an all-boys Catholic school in Silver Spring as arson.

Crews were dispatched to The Avalon School at 11811 Claridge Rd. around midnight on Wednesday. According to Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, they found several small fires that were "suspicious in nature."

The fires caused about $5,000 in damage, he said.

Authorities have not release any other information at this time.
