Baby Drama: Mom In Labor During Snowstorm Calls 911

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews helped deliver a baby at a Silver Spring apartment during Storm Stella.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Most Maryland residents were busy preparing for Storm Stella on Sunday, from last minute grocery shopping to digging out their snow boots and shovels after a moderately warm winter so far. But, a Silver Spring couple was a little preoccupied with the birth of their baby as the storm loomed over Montgomery County.

At about 3 a.m. Monday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews helped deliver a baby at an apartment in Silver Spring right as the snow began to fall, WUS9 reports.

The mom went into labor and was worried about reaching the hospital during the storm. She called 911 and six paramedics helped her give birth to her baby right in her apartment.
