Bomb Threat Forced Evacuation Of Silver Spring High School

A bomb threat against a Silver Spring high school Thursday forced students and faculty to evacuate the building, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The all-clear was given after a bomb threat against a Silver Spring high school triggered an evacuation Thursday afternoon, according to the school's principal.

Montgomery County police said the bomb threat was made in a call to Montgomery Blair High School around 1 p.m. It is unclear who made the phone call.

While students and faculty waited outside, police swept the building for any threats.

The school's principal, Renay Johnson, tweeted about the incident shortly after police were notified.

Thursday's bomb threat forced Montgomery Blair High School to close at 2:30 p.m. and to cancel all after school activities, Johnson said on Twitter. The school, however, still plans on holding its winter concert Thursday night.
