Capital Digestive Care Welcomes Liver Specialist Darryn Potosky, MD
Capital Digestive Care, the largest specialty GI practice in the Mid-Atlantic region, has tapped one of the area's top liver specialists.

Capital Digestive Care has added Dr. Darryn Potosky, a highly-trained gastroenterologist and one of the area’s top liver specialists, to its practice. He will be receiving patients at Capital Digestive Care’s Maryland offices in Columbia, Laurel and Takoma Park. Dr. Potosky brings a wealth of experience across a broad spectrum of health issues and specialties including liver diseases, hepatitis C, and transplant hepatology.
Prior to joining Capital Digestive Care, Dr. Potosky was the Director of Hepatology in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. In this role, he was responsible for running the clinical and administrative aspects of the Liver Program. He was recently named one of the area’s top doctors under 40 by Baltimore Sun magazine.
Dr. Potosky’s career in medicine was inspired by a personal experience with a family member who battled a chronic liver disease. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Potosky continued his medical education at the University of Maryland School of Medicine – Baltimore. He later completed fellowships in both gastroenterology and hepatology.

Dr. Potosky’s personal philosophy is that it is important to not only take excellent care of his patients but to also education them about their health. In addition to having a record of dedication to patient care, Dr. Potosky’s work has been published in peer-reviewed publications, as well as national and international meetings including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and Digestive Diseases Week (DDW).
Dr. Potosky currently maintains a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
