Car Fire In Silver Spring Under Investigation As Arson: Officials

The blaze was reported early Wednesday morning at a cemetery in Silver Spring, authorities said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities are investigating a car fire at a Montgomery County cemetery as a possible case of arson, according to officials.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire was reported around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at the front gate of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located in the 13800 block of Georgia Avenue.

When fire crews arrived, they found a car fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze, Piringer said.

No injuries were reported.

While the cause of the fire remains undetermined, Montgomery County authorities are investigating it as a possible case of arson due to suspicious circumstances.
