Celebrity Chef's AG Kitchen in Silver Spring to Close Friday
The Silver Spring eatery AG Kitchen, run by former Food Network chef Alex Garcia, will close after dinner on Dec. 23.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Celebrity chef and former Food Network star Alex Garcia will close the downtown Silver Spring AG Kitchen restaurant after dinner service on Friday, Dec. 23. Jeremy Wladis, president of the New York-based The Restaurant Group, announced Friday morning that the venue will cease operations.
The restaurant at 931 Ellsworth Drive opened in June 2015. Wladis said that a new concept will open in the space in the spring of 2017. There was no word on whether Garcia would be involved in the new venture at the Silver Spring site.
The restaurant was similar to the AG Kitchen in New York City and served American and Latin comfort dishes, including:

The 7,700-square-feet restaurant had seating for about 180 and featured an outdoor patio overlooking Silver Spring’s mosaic fountain.
The Silver Spring location of AG Kitchen opened in the spring of 2015. Garcia is known as one of the forefathers of Nuevo Latino cuisine.
