Construction Worker Unearths Second $50K Lottery Prize
The Silver Spring man tells the Maryland Lottery he enjoys the Diamond Spectacular scratch-off win; he's won $50K twice.

Silver Spring, MD — A construction worker from Silver Spring uncovered his second $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize in a year and can thank the same lucky retailer for selling him two winning tickets.
Last year, he won a $50,000 top prize playing Bonus Match 5. This time, his Lottery luck came courtesy of the Diamond Spectacular scratch-off game.
The 46-year-old purchased the $20 ticket at Hillandale Beer & Wine, 10117 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.

The Montgomery County resident scratched off the $20 instant ticket at home and at first saw a $500 prize. Then, he realized that he had also matched one of the winning numbers.
“I saw $500 and I thought that was probably it,” he told the Maryland Lottery. “And then, I started looking up through the ticket and I saw 56 a couple of times and I said, ‘Oh, shoot, this is a big winner.’ ”

He called his girlfriend to come over to look at the ticket and there was no doubt about its worth. “I knew then and there it was $50,000,” he said.
The lucky winner doesn’t have any special plans for his prize and said he hopes his winning streak isn’t over. The big fan of Mega Millions and Powerball has his eye on the rising jackpots in those two games.
