DC Fireman Accused Of Stealing Shoes At Gunpoint In Silver Spring

Police have arrested and charged a D.C. firefighter who they say robbed someone at gunpoint over a pair of designer shoes.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Police have arrested and charged a D.C. firefighter who they say robbed someone at gunpoint over a pair of designer shoes.

Davon Alfred Moore, 24, of Southeast Washington, was charged with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and theft between $100 and $1,500, court records revealed. Moore, who has been a District firefighter for four years, was placed on leave, according to a spokesperson for the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.

At about 12 p.m. on Dec. 20, Montgomery County Police responded to the report of an armed robbery at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and East-West Highway, officials said. Police learned that the victim had made arrangements online through "OfferUp," a digital marketplace, to sell Moore the Christian Louboutin Louis Orlato Holographic sneakers, valued at $700.

Moore, the buyer, and the victim — whom police did not identify — met at that intersection in Silver Spring, but had a disagreement over the transaction, officials said. During the disagreement, Moore brandished a handgun and left the area with the shoes.

Montgomery County Police said they obtained a warrant and charged Moore for the incident. He was arrested on Monday, but was released on Wednesday after posting a $5,000 bond, police added.
