SILVER SPRING, MD — A Washington, D.C. man's visit to a Silver Spring gas station over a month ago turned out to be money in the bank, according to a Maryland Lottery release.

The man told lottery officials that one of his favorite hobbies is to play scratch-off tickets and jackpot games. So, when he stopped at the Fenton Street Exxon located at 8301 Fenton St. in Silver Spring and bought a $5 Crazy 8s ticket, it wasn't anything unusual. What was unusual was finding he'd won $50,000when he scratched the ticket in the store

“I wasn’t sure I was seeing what I was seeing, so I scanned it,” the man told lottery officials. “When I saw that message, I knew it was a winner and headed straight home.”
