A New Hotel Has Opened In The Building Of The Former Sheraton Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD — A DoubleTree by Hilton has taken the place of the old Sheraton Silver Spring in Silver Spring downtown. The company announced its opening and said it will be following its chain's tradition of offering a warm chocolate chip cookie upon arrival.

Some of the amenities include:

• 229 rooms, some with panoramic city views, mini-fridges, and 50-inch HDTVs
• 14,235 square feet of meeting, wedding and event space
• Complimentary standard WiFi
• Pet-friendly rooms
• Business center and 24/7 fitness center
• Onsite dining: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Mica’s Restaurant, along with room service
• located four blocks away from the Silver Spring Metro station

The hotel has stressed its cleaning procedures, including a partnership with the Lysol Protection Plan.

"This partnership with Lysol and the Mayo Clinic will provide all hotel guests with assurance and peace of mind during their stay," the hotel said in an opening announcement. "In addition to digital keys and no contact check-in, the initiative will create a focus on cleanliness that will be visible – in their guest rooms, restaurants, fitness rooms and in other public spaces."
