Drivers, Pedestrians Ticketed During Crackdown

Montgomery County Police cited both drivers and pedestrians for violating traffic laws at a Silver Spring intersection.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Both drivers and pedestrians received tickets during a crackdown by Montgomery County Police in an area with frequent pedestrian collisions, authorities said.

Between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Monday, officers focused on pedestrian safety enforcement at Colesville Road and Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. This intersection was identified as an area with a higher frequency of pedestrian collisions.

  • 5 traffic citations issued to drivers for failing to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk
  • 3 traffic citations issued to pedestrians who failed to cross in the crosswalk
  • 1 traffic citation issued to driver with suspended license
