Early Vote Block Party
Join us from 12-3 PM in Burtonsville, MD for fun, food, and convenient early voting!

Our Voices Matter, the Commission on Social Action at Reid Temple AME Church, Communities United Against Hate Montgomery County, and Montgomery County Public Libraries are looking to increase voter turnout in the White Oak community for this midterm election. Voter turnout for midterm elections in Maryland is very low. And turnout for a midterm primary is exceedingly low, especially in communities of color where over half of students receive free or reduced price meals in school. These communities tend to be civically underrepresented. This is true in parts of White Oak. OVM and its partners want to make sure that the perspectives of this community are represented in the selection of candidates for the general election.
This block party will attract young adult voters and their families, giving them a way to entertain the kids and vote in the Maryland midterm primary election. Kids will have fun in the moonbounce or with the face painter while everyone can take part in line dancing. By holding this event next to an Early Vote Center, voting can be both fun and convenient for all who attend.
This is a nonpartisan event. No candidate running for office will speak as part of the program. No organization that endorsed candidates for office or any organization affiliated with a political party is a cosponsor of this event. However, we can’t prevent candidates or members of their campaign staff from attending and talking informally with block party attendees.
