Elderly Silver Spring Pedestrian Hit By Car in Wheaton

Montgomery County Police say a Silver Spring woman suffered life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a car in Wheaton.

WHEATON, MD — An elderly Silver Spring woman suffered life-threatening injuries Monday when she was hit by car while crossing a Wheaton street. Montgomery County Police say the collision occurred about 11:49 a.m., Sunday at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive.

Investigators say a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Kevin Arias, 21, of the 10900 block of Amherst Avenue in Wheaton, was northbound on Georgia Avenue. A pedestrian, identified as Consuelo Mary Anglarill, 82, of the 2100 block of Bonnywood Lane in Silver Spring, was crossing Georgia Avenue in a western direction at Reedie Drive when she was struck by the Impala.

Anglarill was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives continue to investigate the accident, including what the traffic signal showed at the time of the collision and whether Anglarill was in the crosswalk.
