At the second accident scene on New Hampshire Avenue, a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer was eastbound on Randolph Road and attempted to turn south onto New Hampshire Avenue when it struck a utility pole. The adult male driver was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are trying to determine what led to both vehicles veering off the road. Roads in the area reopened Friday afternoon.

The identity of the driver who died will be released once family members have been notified, police said.

Anyone with information about either of these crashes is asked to call police at 240-773-6620.
