SILVER SPRING, MD — A group of Democratic lawmakers and union leaders are inviting affected furloughed federal workers to protest the government shutdown, which is in its third week.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8) on Twitter said he will be joining Rep. Don Beyer (VA-8), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-7), American Federation of Government Employees National President J. David Cox, Sr., and others for a Jan. 9 rally in Silver Spring.

"On day 18 of the #TrumpShutdown and his Lockout of federal workers, we're doing everything we can to bring the WH & GOP leaders to their senses. The closure of the federal gov't is the peak of irresponsibility & we must stay focused to demand an end to this debacle," Rep. Raskin wrote on Twitter.
