Homicide Victim May Have Known His Shooter: Police

A man was shot to death in Burtonsville Tuesday night, say Montgomery County Police, and may have known the assailant.

BURTONSVILLE, MD — Authorities investigating a homicide in Burtonsville say the victim may have known the person who shot him.

Montgomery County Police and Fire and Rescue personnel were called about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday to the 4500 block of Sandy Spring Road (Route 198) for a report of an assault. Inside the home, authorities found a man in his early 20s suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.

He was taken to a local trauma center, where he died from his injuries, police say.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and cannot confirm the motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting, but believe that the victim and suspect(s) may have known each other.
