IMPACT Silver Spring Announces Renewed Partnership with Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Beverage Association at 4th Audacity of Hoops Tournament in D
The partnership expands athletic opportunities to more communities in FY15, connecting with kids and families in need.
SILVER SPRING, Md. – September 19, 2014 - IMPACT Silver Spring, a non-profit organization focusing on community wide leadership and skill building and the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Beverage Association, announced a renewed partnership during the 4th Audacity of Hoops Tournament in Downtown Silver Spring on September 20, 2014.
“This partnership will enable us to reach nearly 1,500 boys and girls around Montgomery County in fiscal year 2015. We are connecting isolated youth – and their parents – to a broad range of sporting opportunities. Soccer and basketball, of course, and also flag football, baseball, tennis, team hand ball, and more! As the children and family members become more involved, they express their interest in more opportunities to improve the league, their own lives, and the larger community. For us, when kids and families can come out and play, this is a marker of a community that is thriving,” said Ronnie Galvin, Executive Director of IMPACT Silver Spring. “Our aim for kids is to offer a mix of opportunities that allow children to sample different sports, learn about being on teams and experience all the wonderful benefits from sports that extend to other areas of life. Families also gain the opportunity to connect with one another, build their networks, and learn about the resources available in their community.”
“Our partnership with IMPACT Silver Spring demonstrates our commitment to promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle among young people,” said Ellen Valentino, executive vice president, Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Beverage Association. “It is important to make sure children and their parents know that exercise is a vital building block for living a vigorous, healthy life.”
