Local Army Veteran on Mission to Serve Others

Casey is an Army Veteran, who is now a permanent Park Ranger working for the National Park Service. Her dream job has always been Park Ranger. "I love working for the National Park Service. My job is simply the best! The team that I work for is incredible and my coworkers have become family."

Due to a traumatic event she experienced while in the military, she has dealt with anxiety, especially more recently. Casey is a service-connected wounded warrior and Army Veteran. Nature and the outdoors have become a form of therapy for her, and she has passed along her love for hiking and outdoors with her 5 year old son. They frequently go hiking and camping together.

Casey is also the Secretary/Treasurer for the Department of Interior Veterans Affinity Group. As Secretary/Treasurer, she is helping to organize a D.C. Chapter, and hopes to connect with veterans and federal employees in the local D.C. area. Casey is passionate and wants to promote veterans issues within the Federal Government, while providing a communications and social network for veterans, their families and interested employees. The D.C. chapter will provide support and encouragement to current military members and their families.

As an Army veteran, she understand the sacrifice, strength and courage it takes to serve our country. She now want to give back to the community, by volunteering her time and energy with other veterans. Not only as a veteran, but as a civilian and a Park Ranger, working for the National Park Service in the D.C. area, Casey is dedicated to providing for our nation's capital and local community.

Casey is currently a Finalist in the 2017 Ms. Veteran America Competition. Finals will be taking place in October 2017.

"The Ms. Veteran America competition highlights the strength, courage and sacrifice of our nation's military women. Ms. Veteran America is a role model, teaching and empowering young women and girls to always support and lift-up one another.

Ms. Veteran America is not a beauty pageant, nor is it just a competition, but a platform to raise awareness for homeless women veterans, their children and their family. It reminds everyone that we are sisters, mothers, wives and daughters. We are unified for one another. For one night, we are able to go beyond the uniform and come together to advocate for our sisters-in-service. These women courageously fought for our freedoms and liberties while in the military. Now, they are fighting the biggest battle of their life: homelessness. If chosen as Ms. Veteran America, Casey would spend the next year educating the public about this epidemic, working with public figures to create plans and policies to prevent homelessness, and ensuring our homeless women vets are cared for.

The purpose of this event is not only to honor the service and sacrifice women Vets have made to this great nation, but to also support our Sisters-in-Arms who are transitioning from the military or have transitioned to civilian employment and may need an image boost.

Proceeds from this event provides housing for homeless women Veterans and their children. Women Veterans are currently the fastest growing homeless population in America. Over half of homeless women veterans are single mothers (Ms. Veteran America)."

In her free time, Casey volunteers and fund raises for homeless women veterans, through an organization called Final Salute Inc. (Final Salute Inc.)."
