Lucky Silver Spring Man Strikes Twice In Maryland Lottery

Jorge Matamoros of Silver Spring celebrates his second big win on the 20x the Cash game.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Lottery luck just delivered a $50,000 scratch-off win to the same player at the same retailer and on the same scratch-off game. Jorge Matamoros, of Silver Spring, celebrates his second big win on the "20x the Cash" game, just a month after he took him his first prize.

Matamoros, a construction worker, first purchased a ticket at 29 Convenience Mart in Silver Spring about a month ago. He took home a $5,000 prize, and bought another ticket from the store.

This ticket was a $50,000 scratch-off win.

“This still feels like such a dream to me,” Matamoros said. “I certainly didn’t think there would be any more big winners at this store so it totally took me by surprise.”

After paying down some of his bills, the lucky winner said he would like to invest his prize into a new business venture.

“I’d like to start real estate business refurbishing and selling homes,” Matamoros said. “I’ve learned a lot about homes in the business I’m in so it would be great to make a living doing what I love to do, fixing up homes.”

The retailer is also a winner. For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the $5 game, 29 Convenience Mart located at 10755 Colesville Road will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
