Man Charged In Fatal 2023 MOCO Crash That Claimed 1 Life: Police

Police said Kenneth McFadden Baldwin was speeding when his tow truck crashed into another car, killing a Gaithersburg man.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A Silver Spring man is facing charges in connection with a 2023 crash in Montgomery County that claimed the life of another driver.

Kenneth R. McFadden Baldwin, 34, was arrested by Montgomery County police on Tuesday and charged with negligent manslaughter by vehicle, authorities said. The arrest came more than a year after the crash happened in Gaithersburg.

According to police, McFadden Baldwin was driving a Ford F-450 tow truck north on Wightman Road on April 28, 2023, when he struck 51-year-old Juan Antonio Lamas Salcido of Gaithersburg, who was attempting to turn left onto Aspenwood Lane.

Lamas Salcido was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An investigation later determined McFadden Baldwin was driving at least 70 mph in a 35 mph zone when he struck Lamas Salcido's Nissan Versa.

McFadden Baldwin was taken into custody and later released on an unsecured personal bond.
