Man Dead After Scuffle With Security Guard: Police
One man died Sunday after he was shot by a security guard at a 7-Eleven store in Silver Spring. An investigation into the death is ongoing.

SILVER SPRING, MD — One man was killed early Sunday morning after a scuffle with a security guard at a 7-Eleven store in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue.
According to a press release from Montgomery County Police Department, officers were sent to the store after receiving a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived around 3:52 a.m., responders from the police department and Fire and Rescue personnel found an unresponsive man outside the store suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man, later identified as 27-year-old Deon Christopher McDonald of Hyattsville, was given emergency medical treatment but later died from his injury, police said. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Detectives have determined McDonald was buying an item in the 7-Eleven store when an argument broke out between him and the store clerk. An armed security guard working for a company contracted by the store intervened, and the dispute became physical.
Police said once outside the store, the 44-year-old security guard fired his gun, striking McDonald.
