Man Detained by Police in Stabbing Above El Sitio Restaurant

One man has been taken into custody in an early morning stabbing above a Silver Spring restaurant, but police have not said if charges have been filed.

Montgomery County police officers were called at 12:04 a.m. Thursday to a second-floor apartment in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring for a stabbing that had just occurred. This apartment is located above the El Sitio Restaurant at 8210 Piney Branch Road.

Police found a man in the second floor hallway suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in serious condition.

A witness who saw the suspect fleeing from the scene on foot followed the suspect in a vehicle. The witness flagged down officers as they arrived at the scene and gave them the suspect’s last known location.

Officers located the adult male suspect a short distance from the scene and took him into custody.

Police continue to investigate and no other details are being released.
