Maryland Weather Forecast: Dreary Start to Tuesday Makes Way For Sunshine

Here comes the rain, folks. That's the word from the are arm of the National Weather Service.

Monday night's rain is expected to linger into Tuesday, after which a respite will arrive.

That would be a mostly clear and warm Wednesday, which arrives following a 24-hour span of high winds and scant sun.

Here's the latest National Weather Service area forecast:

Monday Night: Rain before 11pm, then showers likely between 11pm and 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Low around 54. Southeast wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. West wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. West wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Southeast wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 66. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
