A MASTER CRAFTSMAN FROM SILVER SPRING, WILLIAM PEIRCE, TO EXHIBIT AT AMERICAN FINE CRAFTS SHOW AT BROOKLYN MUSEUM NOV. 21-22
Peirce, a master woodworker, was handpicked to sell his work in Brooklyn Museum's Beaux-Arts Court the weekend before Thanksgiving
Woodworkers such as Silver Spring-based artisan William Peirce, as well as craftsmen in glass, ceramics, wool and leather that each transforms to one-of-a-kind decorative and/or functional pieces, will highlight the third American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at Brooklyn Museum November 21-22, 2015. This work, including furniture, will punctuate the museum’s Beaux-Arts Court joined by jewelry and fashion. There will be 90 handpicked artists in all.
On his website Peirce wrote: “My designs are unique and executed with careful craftsmanship. I believe that wood deserves respect and care when I transform a once-living tree to a piece for someone’s home. I try to use every piece of wood I can, recycling the pieces left over from large projects into smaller projects. You will see that some of my bowls and all the re-arrangeable art parts are made with these recycled pieces.”
