Eater's List Of Essential Chinese Restaurants Includes MOCO Spots
A list of "essential Chinese restaurants" published by Eater includes several in Montgomery County. See if your favorite made the list.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A list of essential Chinese restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area was published by Eater DC, a food news and dining publication, and included several from Montgomery County. They can be found in Rockville, Silver Spring and Wheaton.

1. Shanghai Taste, 1121 Nelson St
"Shanghai Taste offers arguably the best soup dumplings in the area, with three varieties of the cult favorite (two steamed, and one pan-fried on weekends)," said Eater. "It also serves an array of chef’s specials, pork with rice cakes, and more."

2. Bob's Shanghai 66, N Washington St
"Soup dumplings are also a favorite at Bob's Shanghai 66, where they’re filled with regular pork or with pork and crab roe," Eater wrote. "Other Shanghai specialities appear on an extensive menu that ranges from spicy pig ears to sizzling flounder."
3. A&J Restaurant, 1319 Rockville Pike
"Another Rockville mainstay, A&J is known for its noodles, dim sum, and Northwest Chinese food," wrote Eater.
4. Joe's Noodle House, 1488 Rockville Pike
"Joe's Noodle House has long been a standard bearer for Sichuan cuisine in the area," writes Travis Mitchell of Eater. "Spicy dishes like dumplings with red hot sauce, mapo tofu, and homemade bacon with leeks have brought diners in for well over a decade."
The next on the list is a Silver Spring favorite, which features a Lunch and Dinner menu, as well as a Dim Sum menu:
5. Gourmet Inspirations, 2646 University Blvd W
"Before COVID-19, the spacious dining room at this Wheaton fixture would be filled with customers ordering har gow (shrimp dumplings), rice crepes, and beef chow fun noodles from rolling cart," Gabe Hiatt of Eater wrote.
Next was a Wheaton eatery:
6. Hollywood East Cafe, 11160 Veirs Mill Rd
"Founded by Janet Yu in 1996, this Hong Kong-style dim spot in the Westfield Montgomery Mall has been renowned for decades," Hiatt wrote.
