SILVER SPRING, MD — Downtown Silver Spring was bursting with holiday spirit as spectators across the DMV gathered to celebrate the Montgomery County Thanksgiving parade on Saturday.
This year's celebration featured dozens of high school and college marching bands, ballet performances, Thanksgiving and Christmas floats, and more. In addition to checking out the festive displays, spectators said the parade gave them a sense of community.
"I like the whole community aspect of [the parade]," John Zollinger, a D.C. resident said. "For instance, when [people in the parade] are throwing the candy, kids aren't fighting over it. They're sharing with each other. And that's kind of the whole spirit of things."
