Murder Charge Filed In 2022 Fatal Shooting Of Silver Spring Man In DC

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Juwaan Henry of Silver Spring last August, according to a release.

Officers responded around 8:16 p.m., on Aug. 25, 2022, for the report of a shooting in the 800 block of 7th Street, Northwest. Arriving on the scene, they found Henry suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the release. Henry was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on Wednesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 25-year-old Dwayne Brooks Jr. of Southwest.
After being taken to MPD's Homicide Branch, Brooks was charged with first degree murder while armed-felony murder, according to police.
