Police Charge Baltimore Man With First-Degree Murder In April 9 Homicide In Silver Spring
Montgomery County Police arrested a Baltimore man in connection with the April 9 killing of Carlos Rashard Carter of Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Police detectives from Montgomery County arrested a Baltimore man Thursday in connection with the killing of 20-year-old Carlos Rashard Carter of Silver Spring earlier this month, according to a release.
Officers arrived around 3:22 a.m., on April 9, to assist Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services at residence in the 11800 block of Old Columbia Pike.
Carter, who was found at that location suffering from trauma to his body, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police. All life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

Through their investigation, detectives identified 20-year-old Kaleab Abebe Berhanu of Baltimore as a suspect in the case. After filing for an arrest warrant on Wednesday, detectives took Berhanu in to custody on Thursday.
Transporting Berhanu to the Montgomery County Center Processing Unit, police charged him with first-degree murder and home invasion, as well as firearm related charges. Berhanu remains in custody without bond.
