Passenger Involved In Serious Silver Spring Crash Has Died: MCPD
A 71-year-old man who was seriously injured in a March 4 car crash in Silver Spring has died.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A 71-year-old passenger of a vehicle involved in a serious collision in Silver Spring earlier this year has died.
Montgomery County Police identified Augustina Okwadi, of Beltsville, as the man who was killed in the crash.
It happened at the intersection of Cherry Hill Road and Prosperity Drive shortly before 3:45 p.m. on March 4.

Authorities say the victim and a driver, 50-year-old Regina Ablorh, of Beltsville, were traveling in a 2005 Toyota Corolla that was attempting to turn left from northbound Cherry Hill Road onto Prosperity Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle was struck by a 2003 Volvo XC90, which was traveling southbound on Cherry Hill Road.
Officials have identified the driver of the Volvo as Herbert Oswaldo Baires Chavez, 25, of College Park. Chavez was taken to hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

Ablorh and Okwadi, however, were seriously injured in the crash. Authorities say both were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Okwadi died from his injuries sustained in the crash on April 27, officials said.
The March 4 collision remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
