SILVER SPRING, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are working to confirm guardianship of a child that was dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital Sunday, police said.

The woman told police that her sister asked her to babysit the unknown child in her home. The woman could not reach or locate her sister after some time, so she brought the child to the hospital, police said.

The child was identified through investigative means. This remains an ongoing investigation and therefore additional details cannot be confirmed at this time.
