Police: Pedestrian Killed in White Oak Wreck

Driver taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to Montgomery County Police.

Investigators are looking for witness information in a fatal pedestrian collision on Wednesday in the White Oak area.

The victim has been identified as Vanessa Dixon, 49, of Ingraham Street in Washington, D.C.

According to police, Dixon was struck by a 2005 red Nissan X-Terra prior to 11:17 a.m. Wednesday as she stood at a bus stop in the 1000 block of Cresthaven Drive. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died due to her injuries, according to police.

Witnesses reported the X-Terra had been driving erratically on New Hampshire Avenue and again on Cresthaven Drive, according to a MCPD release. The vehicle struck the victim standing at a bus stop, and went on to strike two parked vehicles.

David Rodriguez, 22, of Cannon Road in Silver Spring, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges have not been determined.
