Police Shoot, Kill Dog As It Attacked Woman
The victim was caring for a family member's dog in a Silver Spring house.

A Montgomery County Police officer shot and killed a dog, according to the department’s Twitter feed, after the dog attacked a woman at a Silver Spring house.
The attack happened Thursday in the 4300 block of Garrett Park Road.
Police say the victim is a family member who was caring for the dog while its owner was out of town.

The woman has severe facial injuries, police say.
The Washington Post reports police received a 911 call from the victim, which was disconnected, and neighbors told them they had heard a woman screaming. Officers then heard screams and entered the house, where they found the dog attacking the woman.

A dispatcher told the newspaper she did not know the breed of the dog. Officers found up to 10 other dogs in the home and were deciding whether to remove them.
