Pray First and Meditate the Vote
New article in the Washington Informer, featuring the national initiative, Meditate the Vote.

Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads. — Deuteronomy 1:13 ESV
With the June 14 primary election for the District of Columbia almost upon us, let us consider the seriousness of every vote.
This is not an opinion opportunity. Scripture reminds us in Deuteronomy 1:13: "Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men," (and I add women) and it continues by saying, "and I will appoint them as your heads."

The definition of the word "choose" is to pick out or select (someone or something) as being the best or most appropriate of two or more alternatives. Today, however, it seems the news media is influencing the vote.
Folks, please don't allow news media to suggest candidates for which you should vote. Meditate the vote and decide for yourself, based on inspirations that come to you, during your meditation quiet time.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all of the news media brainwashing you about who the best candidate may be? If this sounds like you, you should join the Meditate the Vote campaign, a new national movement started by the America Meditating Radio Show and an alliance of friends from across the country.
Meditate the Vote's website defines this phenomena by saying it is defined as a waking up of our inner worth and power. Meditate the Vote is not about swaying a vote or supporting a candidate, it is simply about you.
The presidential candidates, collectively, represent the stage of consciousness of our nation. Perhaps if we truly look at what is being said, we might realize that they are offering us a signal to recognize that we are in charge of how we choose to live our lives.
The struggles of our nation continue, and become increasingly tougher: high medical bills, employment insecurity, making sure all children receive a quality education and ending domestic poverty. Are these items still on the table for only a leader to fix? Or is it for all of us to fix together?
Together, we can create a ripple of encouragement and partnership, feel more connected to the efforts of raising the level of consciousness and, in turn, amplify the role of citizen leadership for the nation. Trust that you are special, that you have something unique to offer, that you are amazing, brilliant and capable.
It is when we dive deeper into our being that we can expand our way of seeing situations and contributing, rather than living from fear. No price is too high to pay for owning up to your greater sense of worth.
Just as the law of gravity is a natural force that causes things to fall towards the earth, and is always true, so is the need for us to quiet our minds to hear what God is telling us to do when we select those who will head up our government. This is called the law of attraction — when one focuses on positive or negative thoughts, one subsequently brings positive or negative experiences into their life.
When you vote — this year, in particular — be reminded that scripture tells us this: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God… And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2
How can you present your body as a living sacrifice and renew your mind? Sit quietly, meditate about who to vote for and ponder. Allow God to speak into your spirit to help you make a wise choice. When you choose your tribes wisely, with understanding, you will be able to select experienced leaders. This is scripture.
