Rape, Sexual Abuse Of Minor Charges Levied Against Silver Spring Man

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police arrested 24-year-old Orlin Martinez Orellana for the second-degree rape and sexual abuse of a minor. The assault happened while Martinez Orellana was working as a taxi driver, according to a police news release.

Believing there may be additional victims in this case, police released a photo of Martinez Orellana on Monday and ask anyone who believes they may have been sexually assaulted by him to come forward.

Officers responded on Jan. 2 to a residence in Silver Spring for the report of a rape, according to police. The juvenile victim told investigators she had contacted a taxi service around 3 a.m. to take her to meet a friend at a location outside of Montgomery County.

Martinez Orellana picked her up a short time later and drove to the requested location, according to investigators. When the victim realized her friend was not going to meet her there, she asked Martinez Orellana return to her residence. Martinez Orellana refused and instead drove her against her will to his residence in Silver Spring, where police say he raped her.

On Friday, detectives located Martinez Orellana in the 11500 block of Georgia Avenue and interviewed him. During the interview, Martinez Orellana made statements of involvement in the Jan. 2 incident, according to police. He was then taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, charged with second-degree rape and sexual abuse of a minor, and held without bond.

Police suspect Martinez Orellana may have sexually assaulted additional victims, many of whom may not have contacted police because of their immigration status. Anyone who comes forward will not be asked about their immigration status to support immigration enforcement, according to a release.
