Rolling In Dough: Kitchen Worker Wins $20K Lottery Ticket

A 45-year-old kitchen worker from Silver Spring is $20,000 richer thanks to a recent lottery win.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Winning the lottery is slim. But Jose Mamaya, of Silver Spring, had a feeling there might be a winning ticket waiting for him at a gas station on the way home from work.

According to Maryland lottery officials, the 45-year-old kitchen worker pulled up to Kensington Liberty on 10550 Connecticut Ave. in Kensington and bought four $10 scratch-off tickets. Then it happened: Mamaya had won $20,000.

Mamaya doesn't have any plans to celebrate, yet. Per lottery officials, Mamaya said he will put his prize money into savings.
