Salvadoran Consulate Building Relocates To Silver Spring

County Executive Ike Leggett joined Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador H.E. Hugo Martínez to celebrate the new location.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning to celebrate the opening of the new Salvadoran Consulate building on Philadelphia Avenue in Silver Spring, Montgomery Community Media reports.

Leggett was joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador H.E. Hugo Martínez, Ambassador Claudia Canjura and General Consul Ena Peña at 926 Philadelphia Ave, where the Consulate relocated to from DC.

The Consulate serves about 200 people a year with visa and passport services, family registration, legal matters and more. County leaders hope the new Silver Spring location will attract additional business to the area.
