Sexual Abuse Charged Filed Against Silver Spring Man In DC: Police

A 23-year-old Silver Spring man was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred early Thursday in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested 23-year-old Joseph Macklin of Silver Spring early Thursday in connection with a sexual assault that occurred near Dupont Circle, according to a police release.

Macklin first approached the victim around 3:20 a.m. in the 2100 block of P Street, Northwest. Police say he then assaulted the victim, forcing them to perform a sex act. MPD officers responding to the scene arrested Macklin.

Police charged Macklin with first-degree sexual abuse, according to the release.
